How to reset CMD autocomplete in Windows 10

Published on Thursday, May 30, 2019

I recently ran into a problem with the command prompt not autocompleting when using TAB. Instead it inserted a regular TAB character.

It turned out that for some reason all values under the registry for the current user had been removed.

To reset the values I copied working registry values from another computer and inserted these into the registry.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor]
"CompletionChar"=dword:00000009
"DefaultColor"=dword:00000000
"EnableExtensions"=dword:00000001
"PathCompletionChar"=dword:00000009
